Mr. Nick Frei
Chief Executive Officer - t'azur

1. What is your outlook on the state of the regional economy? When will we start to see recovery?
First of all the regional economy hasn’t been suffering as badly as other regions, this means currently we are still experiencing growth in many areas of the economy. I believe we will see increased growth rates similar to those prior to the global crisis probably starting from next year.
2. What is your outlook on the Bahrain insurance market, and the new compulsory medical insurance law proposed?
Whilst there are many insurance companies in Bahrain, the market is still underinsured particularly with regards to life insurance (Family Takaful) therefore we expect to see continued strong growth in all lines of business, particularly life insurance. We believe the new compulsory Medical Insurance law is a vey sensible proposal which will be to the benefit of the whole of Bahrain. Many other markets have this in place already and Bahrain should follow soon.
3. What have been the key highlights for your company during 2009?
Clearly the main highlight in 2009 was our Company and Product launch.
4. There has been much debate about the need for the mandatory training of entry level insurance staff in Bahrain. What do you see as the roles of the CBB and BIA moving this forward?
t’azur firmly believes in setting up infrastructure to the benefit of the insurance market place of Bahrain. CBB and BIA as well as institutions such as GII and BIBF play a vital role in coordinating and delivering training of relevant skills.
