4. There has been much debate about the need for the mandatory training of entry level insurance staff in Bahrain. What do you see as the roles of the CBB and BIA moving this forward?
Insurance staff ought to go through a proper training program in any market where insurance is practiced and sold.
Historically the CBB has been the example of proper training and indeed regulation in Bahrain. Along with support of the BIA, suitable training programs could be proposed for insurance companies to enroll their staff.
5. What are your plans for 2010?
We plan to continue our regional expansion started in 2009 and further our penetration of the Bahrain Takaful insurance market. This will be achieved through the introduction of new financial services as well as aggressively strengthening our Bancassurance products and presence.
Besides, we will also be coming up with innovative distribution channels.
6. Reflecting on the Gulf Insurance Forum held in Bahrain, would you like to see more insurance conferences being held in the Kingdom? It is no secret that contrary to the lack of participation at some events in other parts of the region, every conference held in Bahrain seems to always be a hit and well attended. Why is that do you believe?
Bahrain has historically acted as a regional financial center and this is portrayed by the large number of international institutions present and active here. It is therefore no surprise to find large attendance and interest in such forums held in Bahrain.
